Studio 17 reformatting

Hi guys:

Could you please prioritize the software installation after a clean Vista installation. I did it but some things don't seems to work properly:

- Web cam doesnt work
- The sound is terrible
- Problems with some internet and soft

I will try to reformat it again and maybe follow the reinstallation a bit more carefully. What would be the priorities?

- Vista updates
- Media Direct CD
- Dell Drivers CD or Dell dirvers
- specific drivers and soft

 

No... try installing webcam application separately from the CD you got some dell... for M1530 I got a separate webcam CD.. but its might also be part of the driver n utilities

sound check the driver.. try reinstalling the driver or going for a newer one

same for internet... try reinstalling the driver..

if it doent work, then reinstall...

and look in Les' guide for the way he suggested and which has worked for many people here...

Or I think there is a page in Dell online support too... if I remember right.. let me see..

 

OK, I did follow Les' guide but it's a bit outdated. First of, there is new version of Media Direct (4.0). So I started reformatting from Dell Vista Disk and then installed:

Media Direct 4.0
Dell Drivers and Utilities Disk ( I got lost here since I couldn't tell which drivers go where, there is no detailed description)
Web Cam software Disk

My web cam didn't work from the start and the sound is so terrible. There no much volume and not many lows. Love my Inspiron 8500 sound.
