Help! I'm a frustrated owner of a Dell Studio 1737..and although I have sorted out the crackling issue over a year ago I can't seem to solve this problem! Whenever I am listening to music the audio is either a bit distorted or fades in and out..it's very subtle but is noticeable enough to cause frustration! I run all of my audio files through WMP The only option I have enabled in WMP is the EQ option...all others are off..I have IDT audio which came with my laptop and again, all I have enabled is the EQ. I install the AUDIGY Sound Blaster cd that came with my laptop but didn't notice any difference so I uninstalled it! All my audio files are mp3 and are running at 320 kps which is cd quality. I have uninstalled my audio drivers and reinstalled them but the problem persists! Do any other Studio owners have this problem? Any ideas! All answers would be most appreciated!

Does this also happen if you use external speakers / headphones?

Yes it does! Like I said it's subtle but noticable! I know mp3's are not the best audio available but 320kps is cd quality and it happens if i rip a cd..not sure what the problem is!

Try updating your WiFi driver from support.dell.com. The audio crackling was a common issue caused by interference from the wireless driver on the old Studio models.
