I recently purchased a refurbished Studio 1737 from Dell. The CPU is the T9400 2.53GHZ with 6MHz cache and is listed at 1066MHz FSB. I ran several system checking software suites which showed errors in the hardware configuration because the motherboard is only capable of supporting a FSB of 800MHz.
Does anyone have a similar issue or can provide an explanation about this? I know the memory is 800MHz but I expected this deluxe CPU to be supported by the motherboard and run at 1066MHZ.
Thanks for any replies.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
That being said, there's way your chipset only supports up to 800MHz FSB processors. That would imply that it's a 965-Series board (and the Studio 17 did have a motherboard revision) which would not support a T9400. So if you've really got a T9400, you'll have to have a 45-Series chipset and your chipset will have to support a 1066MHz FSB.
Ultimately I think your reading programs are wrong. What're you using? -
Bazooka, if you have a 1737, then you have the newer PM/GM45 chipset, and support for 1066MHz FSB processors. It will not underclock. Only the 1735 (older PM/GM965 chipset) is limited to 800MHz FSB. That's the difference between Studio laptops with the 1535/1735 and 1537/1737 series: the '35 series uses the Santa Rosa platform with the PM or GM965 chipset (P or G depending on whether you have discrete or integrated graphics) wihch means max FSB of 800MHz and max DDR2 memory of 667MHz, and the '37 series uses the newer Montevina platform, with the PM or GM45 chipset, with max FSB of 1066MHz and max DDR2 memory frequency of 800MHz.rodnsue likes this.
