Every so often, the display on the laptop will go crazy and then a small blue square pops up saying Hardware failure. Not a BSOD, what looks like a Dell blue screen. I'm going to go ahead and assume that it's the video card going bad, and if it is, my laptop is out of warranty and i'm a little peeved. Any help would be appreciated. Also I'm using windows 7 Ultimate, don't know maybe that would be an issue. I also took out the modified video card drivers and used the dell last updated drivers from when windows 7 came out. Thanks guys

This is kind of curious... can you take a picture of this little blue box? I'd actually be a little surprised if your GPU was going bad... I don't think I've heard of a 3650 dying before.

Yeah the next time it happens, which will probably be tonight, i'll snap a pic with my droid and upload it. I wouldn't think the gpu would be dying either, but it's rather ominous that it happens right after the driver seems to fail. It doesn't appear to be an overheating issue because the laptop isn't getting extremely hot at all. I have the 9 cell battery so it's off the desk or it's on my knees with my knees separated so it can breath. The only spot that gets decently hot is the hard drive area as usual.

sounds like the cable connecting the main board to the screen maybe loose from so many openings and closings. Or the grpgics card is going bad.

Try updating the BIOS I have a 1737 also just go to DELL Driver page and install the latest BIOS.

make sure your battery is at 100% and you are plugged in.

Yeah i've kept up to date on the bios since i got the laptop. I might try cracking it open and looking at the cable, that's a good idea. Of course right now the laptop hasn't had any issues, and i haven't gotten to really play with it much because of some things going on at home. I will get a picture up as soon as it happens again though. THanks for the info so far.
