Okay folks, this weekend I plan on making a trial run
with the HDMI hook up to my 46" HD Plasma to see
    how it works.

Earlier this year when we first bought the TV, we connected
it via HDMI to our cable company's DVR and it worked
for about 2 weeks. Then, one morning my wife moved
the TV for cleaning and the HDMI cable fell out of the back
of the DVR. Once we reconnected the cable, the HDMI never
worked again! We even bought a new HDMI cable and no help.

After reading on the web, I discovered it was a common
problem with the model of DVR we had. Something about
a "sync" problem with the HDMI. We were advised to
replace the DVR but we never got around to it.

So, we are worried about the same kind of sync issues
if we connect and reconnect the HDMI between the laptop
    and the TV.

I have the ATI 256MB card. Does anyone know if sound
is carried on the cable, as well?

For anyone enjoying the HDMI on the Studio..any tips
or tricks I should know about?

I have installed WinDVD9 which I have read is best to
use with the Blu-Ray player in my Studio. Can't wait to
buy my first Blu-Ray disc! :)

I have the 1737 and Yes HDMI carries the sound perfectly. If you do or don't have the Bluray drive it plays movies perfectly.

When I connected to HDMI make sure your TV is on first I connected the HDMI to the TV, then to the Laptop.

The 1737 auto detected my HDTV and automatically scaled the resolution to the TV's 1920x1080p It actually looked cleaner and sharper than the Laptop's Text because it was bigger and blacker text, on the 1737 with a 1920x1200 screen text is very very small.

it gives you the option to mirror the displays or use both or turn off the laptops display.

How it was pumping out 1920x1200 to the laptop and 1920x1080 to the TV at the same time and still running fast with no hint of slow down was impressive.

CPU load must have been very high.

    Thanx for the advise!

I got the HDMI working and the sound worked through the cable.

    But, something unnerving happened.

I got done playing my Blu-Ray so I switched the monitor
back to the laptops LCD (turning off the HDMI) and the turned the
laptop off for the night. After it was off I unplugged the HDMI cable
    from the laptop.

The next morning I turned on the laptop and there was no sound as
far as multimedia. I was able to "test" the sound on the laptop
and it did play through the speakers, but when I brought up YouTube,
    there was no sound.

I went into the control panel under sounds and it showed the sound
playing though the HDMI which was set as the default sound option.

I switched the default back to the regular sound card and then rebooted
the PC and I got my sound back.

Did I do something wrong? Should I unplug the HDMI cable
before I turn off the laptop? Will this be a common problem,
issue with using the HDMI on the laptop?

I am unaccustomed to 2 sound sources on one computer.
