So I placed an order for a Dell Studio 1737 on 12/19/08 and I kinda wanted to change the specifications at the last minute by cancelling and then reordering. However, as soon as I placed the order, and called a few hours later, I was informed by India, Inc. that Dell cannot in any way shape or form cancel the order because it was already is the testing process. I thought that was odd considering my delivery date would be in February. No matter what, they wont let me cancel it even though I have explained several times that delivery wont occur until February 2009 and all they say is that there is nothing that can be done except take the computer and return it.
If I return it, I get charged a restocking fee of 15%, correct? I believe they haven't even started building it yet and that they are just messing with my order status because I have called in so many times.
What am I supposed to do? I mean, I was going to use my EPP discount, but half the options for the Studio 1737 were missing from the EPP website, so I resorted to the Home and Office website instead!
I have a DPA and the promotion for the Dell Studio with 9 months no interest expires at the end of December, calling Dell, they could care less. So I have to wait and wait and wait until I get this computer, then send it back, then wait forever, get my DPA credited and then reorder without a promotion anymore???
What do I do???

Do whatever you can to escalate your complaint. Try forwarding it to another customer service arm at Dell. Dell's page on the BBB has some good information on this http://www.bbb.org. If Dell won't help resolve the issue, file the complaint with the BBB. Since this seems to be happening to a lot of people, I'd say it's either a tactic or a glitch in their system; either way, they need to address it.
The "1737" I ordered went back and forth between boxing and testing for weeks, beginning the day after I placed the order. 3 weeks later, dell canceled it. On the other hand, someone else here received his roughly a week after placing the order. I think Dell has a kindergarten class managing the production of these systems.
Studio 1737 shipping early or glitch?
