    Hi,

    My current Studio 17" 1749 has an i3 350m, 4gb 1066mhz and an ati 5650.
I have found i need a bit more cpu grunt and some deals on ebay are tempting!

I doubt it would accept quad core 720m's upwards but i was wondering if the studio 17 motherboard supports upgrading to an i7 620m?

If not then how about an i5 540m?

Also i understand this buggers the warranty..

    Thanks!

Yes, you can install anything but quad mobile cpu's. Your mobo is fully compatible with the 620m so you should be fine. Know where to find the 620m for cheap? I am interested in upgrading my 1749 once it comes back from Dell repair.

$300 is too much for me to spend for that processor. Do you know if it can be found for less?

Well, it is $259 with free S&H. That's a pretty good price for a real OEM SLBPD 620M.
