Ok guys, need your help figuring out whether the bluetooth card is broken or anything else.
I have a dell Studio 1535, with Dell wireless 370 bluetooth card...
Now suddenly, my BT card turned off (i have a light indicator on my dashboard) and the bluetooth stopped working. device manager says:
"Generic Bluetooth Adapter. : This device cannot start (code10)"
and it won't allow me to install the bluetooth drivers downloaded from the DELL site as it says i already have the latest.
Furthermore i cannot install the bluetooth software from dell, coz it tells me to turn on the bluetooth device (i have a switch on the side) but that switch does not turn it on anymore! it used to ! the light indicator just remains off!
i have a feeling the card is dead.. i have REINSTALLED windows 7 (and bluetooth works by default) and its exactly the same problem again this time..
Please any ideas, thoughts are welcome. Is there any way i can check if the card is broken?
thanks!

Open the Control Panel and select Bluetooth Devices. Under the "Options" tab, there's a check box at the bottom labeled "Turn off the Bluetooth adapter", which is of course unchecked by default. If that box is checked, then the Bluetooth light on your media panel will be off as well, even if the WiFi switch is on.
Just uncheck that box, hit Apply and you should be good to go, unless I'm horribly wrong.
If it's not a software issue, try removing the laptop's bottom panel and re-seating the Bluetooth card. It's only held in place by one tiny screw, and it rests in an angled slot, much like RAM, and if you can't identify which mini-card it is, it's the one with the blue antenna wire coming from it. Also, make sure that blue wire is firmly connected while you're at it.
Hope this helps! -
ok i've tried both.
1. I dont have this bluetooth device in my control panel. I know exactly what you are talking about but i cannot install the software (from dell) because it says my BT needs to be switched ON before hand.
I have tried switching it off and on again in bios, makes no difference too!
2. I have checked underneath the laptop, and the antennae is in well. i've also taken out the WPAN (BT) and put it back into it's place again, no difference.
Is my card broken?
Thanks! -
