Hey all- are any of you experiencing problems with the fingerprint reader? I enrolled my fingerprints, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to use them to log onto Windows. I get the option at the welcome screen, but when I scan my finger, the system just emits a noise and sits there. The fingerprint manager can tie access to any open logon window, but of course you can't actually choose this menu option until you are in Windows.

Just curious if you all had any thoughts. Thanks!

Very few people have a studio right now. Il have mine in a week. I know that with my other fingerprint reader I had to press hard if I wanted some kind of response.

Mine generates a response with a gentle slide, but then it just sits there. I don't find the software all that intuitive, although perhaps I am the one lacking intuition. :)

Are firewalls known to interfere with the fingerprint software? I wonder if ZonaAlarm is blocking access somehow? It seems strange that I was able to enroll fingerprints but that I can't actually log into anything, or log onto Windows.

From experience with fingerprints, a lot of people don't have "clear" prints. Forms use to get sent back to me all the time because of that. There could be a lot of other factors causing this issue such as... dry skin, eczema, cuts, creams, etc. I doubt it's a software issue since a friend and I use it daily. It could be hardware, the actual reader. But don't forget what I mentioned earlier.

I figured this out last night. Apparently, the software is not compatible with Firefox 3. When I fired it up with IE7, it worked flawlessly. Now that I've got it working, I think it's really neat. I'll probably only use IE7 and the reader in public places, though, as I'm a diehard Firefox fan all the way.
