I have a Dell Studio, and the power button has jammed, like many other users. It's not possible to press it, in order to turn the computer on.

Thus, I have to keep it from shutting down, etc.

Can I put it into sleep mode, or does it need to be woken up by pressing the power button? I don't remember and I'm afraid to try!

(I already took care of the problem where the computer freezes upon closing the lid because of the touch-buttons, by loosening the screws underneath and updating the BIOS. Worked like a charm.)

(PS: Of course, I'll get this fixed when I have a free moment--I'm in the middle of finals, dudes.)

You're talking about the power button on the right side of the screen, right?
Never heard of that happening before, only the eject button.
If you put it to sleep and close the lid, it will wake when you open the lid again.

That's weird. I've never heard of "many other users" having that issue.

Unfortunately, waking up from Sleep does require the power button to be pressed. But try the MediaDirect button; you may be able to boot using that.

This is the first time I've heard of that issue. Is it just me?

First time I've heard of it. I'd like to know who the "many other users" who apparently have this issue are.
