    Hello,

I was thinking about getting a Studio 15 (1555) or a Studio XPS 1640. But I have some doubts. I´m not sure if someone who already have one of these systems can help me..

Is there an indicator for CAPS LOCKS in those systems? I've heard some rumors that the Studio XPS 1640 with backlit keyboard, has the indicator in the key itself, the ilumination changes when is activated or something like that, but I'm not sure if this is correct. The same rumors I've heard about Studio 1555, can someone confirm this? :( I´m aware that in the Studio 1555 is controlled by Quickset when you´re in windows, but what about outside of Windows, if I start in MS-DOS? is there any indicator that tells me the system has caps lock activated?

And the other question is about the ASCII codes, in previous laptops we had the numpad keys and we could use FN + ALT and the numpad key to type an ascii character, how can I accomplish this in these two models? because they don´t have the numpad anymore..

I would be very grateful if someone could clarify these doubts for me, thanks!

On the Studio 15, there is no indicator light for Caps Lock, only the on-screen display courtesy of QuickSet software. I don't believe there is any indicator outside of Windows, although I can't think of any situations in which I use Caps Lock in DOS or anything else.

With regards to the ASCII codes, that's a good question. I have a portable USB wireless numeric keypad from Logitech (I recommend it; it's a nifty thing to have). I guess in the worst case, you could just go into the Character Map and copy+paste
