    Hi everybody,

does anyone have access to a Studio XPS Service Tag??? I'm trying to order a 4GB Stick of DDR3 RAM for my Alu-Macbook, and Dell require a Service Tag from me.

If anyone knows it, please advise.

    thanks )

Umm.. Are you trying to buy Ram for a Dell or a MacBook??????

4GB is a *standard* you can get that most everywhere....newegg.com, Frys, buy.com, etc....And, a decent prices.

And, I'm sorry...I don't think you will find anyone willing to give you their Service Code on their own notebook.

    Cin ;) :)

I am trying to buy a stick of 4GB DDR3 for my Alu-Macbook.

With regards to 4GB being a standard, most computer shops here in Australia are claiming that 4GB sticks of DDR3 Notebook RAM do not even exist.

They are available as part of a new Dell Studio XPS 13/16 (Stock with 2+4 and option for 4+4).

I was under the impression that service tags are specific to the notebook's model, not specific to the machine itself, therefore no problems with giving it out as all Studio XPSes with that configuration have the same Service Tag. (If someone could clarify)

I was considering purchasing from USA, but most retailers will not ship internationally and Dell's pricing (for the upgrade from 2+4 to 4+4) is very cheap in comparison with purchasing from USA, so I was hoping to exhaust all local options first.

Hope this clears up a few things, Thanks :)

Service tag is bound to a specific system, not model. Dell uses that to see the config of a laptop and it's history etc. I seriously doubt people would give you theirs.
Why don't you just order online? Dell is probably one of the more expensive sources to get RAM if not THE most expensive
