Just a heads up ... I've been watching for a studio remote for a while on eBay (they only seem to every have the older grey style available) and I see there's a guy on there selling a bunch of them new for $19 shipped free. Use microsoft cashback for 14% off, or it looks like he takes offers. I guess Dell dumped a bunch of them now that the 1555 can't use a remote.

That's fantastic, thanks for the heads up!
I have one of the old grey remotes as well, but I think I may shell out the $20 for one of these. The dedicated Windows Media Center button makes it worthwhile for me. Then I'll probably just resell my existing grey remote.
I was pretty disappointed when I ordered my remote new from Dell, at the time then new black remotes were out, but they sent me a grey one. -
I got one for 10 bucks! They are very handy to have around for school presentations and such.

XPS remote works for studio as well.
in my country new dell remote is 15$ -
Speaking of remotes, I have a windows MCE edition remote (not a dell one, a Microsoft remote that goes with Windows Media Center) and I can't seem to get it to work. Do all the laptops come with the receiver built-in and working, or only certain models? I've pointed the remote at what looks like an IR port on the front, but no go.
-
The IR ports are configured to work natively with the Dell remotes, I know that for sure. You may not have the driver installed. Go to the Dell download page for your model, and download the ITECIR driver.

To follow up I got my remote today ... it arrived as promised in new Dell packaging.
