I was going to keep this to myself but had to tell U guys anyway:

Long story short, ordered my 1530 on 12/26, paid $1717.23 shipped, received it 1/4, screen sucked along with a couple of broken tabs and some assembly scratches so reordered a replacement (to be delivered 1/15).

After using the current unit with a 9-cell on my lap, my legs were really hurting from the battery so I figured I would add on the 6-cell for just "lap use" to my replacement order. I assumed I could just have them bill me an extra $30 for the add on like when configured at "point of sale" but Dell said "no way!" They cannot alter the replacement order, just the original!

So after I asked to speak to the reps super, I threatened to just cancel the whole thing and reorder with the 9 and 6 cell with the adjusted $30 price. The sup then broke down and said, "let me see what I can do..." After a brief hold, he said he could give me the battery @ a discount of $40 off the retail price of $139.

Wha??? I will not pay $100 for a 6-cell when I could have it for $30. So just pissed off I told him to cancel the 1530 enroute and send me a pre-paid shipping label for the defective unit in-hand. He did.

I then proceeded to the website, re-ordered thru EPP, got the same exact config with the 6 + 9 cell, for $1605 shipped!!!

So they basically paid me $100 and a 6-cell for being difficult!

    Stupid Dell...

    Dell will never stop

They charge $100 for a GB of RAM when you build but 2GB sticks are $45 at the DEll store

    Different sits completely....

When I ordered my M1330, my original order was for a 9 and 6. It came with a 9/9. I called and talked to a girl and told her that I had to have a 6 because it was flush. She went to order me a 6 and couldn't find the product number for the 6 so she reversed 200 back to my Visa and asked me to call in the order through sales (She was XPS Cust Svc). She told me the price of the battery was roughly 149 at that time and the rest was for my inconvenience.

So... I ended up with two 9 cells and the 6 and a bit extra.

    Funny eh....different situations totally.

You just have no idea how Dell works. Read the forums and you'll see that once an order is placed, the *ONLY* way to change it is to cancel and re-order. No exceptions.

No restocking fee since it was a defective unit (mangled screen, broken tabs on plastic, etc...)

I really did not want to "change" my order. I just wanted them to look at the big picture and give me the battery for an additional $30 instead of having the complete re-order hassle.

Unfortunately to Dell, that's changing your order.
