I just upgraded my Studio 1537's processor from a P8400 to a T9400 and it worked great until my laptop crashed and showed a blue screen saying "uncorrectable hardware failure". How can I fix this and not have it be a total waste of my time?

Yes I upgraded the BIOS from A02 to A09 successfully. I know it's not the BIOS anyway because my laptop boots up and then crashes when I try to do anything. Also it's an ES chip so I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Try putting the P8400 back in and see if it works? At least you'll be able to see if this is a hardware or software fault...

That's what I did. I'm using the same laptop as we speak. The thing is I already paid for it and can't return it, so I might as well figure out why it messes up. I don't understand it; I did the BIOS update, and I've seen other people do the exact same thing as me with the same laptop, same chip. It's not DOA either, because it worked great for about 30 minutes and then it crashed.

Can you test the T9400 in another laptop? ES processors usually tend to work fine, but you might've gotten the one dud in a batch...

That sucks, I'll try it. Thanks, and I have a theory; It's been stress tested by the seller, and I think it may be messed up if it was overtested, which is what some people do.

Have Intel replace it directly, something like that happened and Intel sent me out a replacement CPU.
