I've been searching for a while on this forum for a conclusive answer but haven't been able to find one yet.

The Studio 15 and SXPS 16 seem to be very similar systems, the only difference on paper depending on the config. being the SXPS's superior graphics and higher price.

So what are the differences between the two computers NOT on paper? Heating issues? Quality of build? Screen quality, sound quality?

Any help is appreciated, I'm just trying to figure out what separates the two systems.

Design and the SXPS has the RGB LED option (depending on region).

Also depepending on region you get superior support with the XPS systems.

There isn't much difference between the two when it comes to configuration options as you've noticed.

I think the increased price, while some is for better build guality, it is mainly for the so called better XPS support which is sometimes questionable. As far as the issues, I suggest browsing the forums related to each laptop line. You'll of course find right from the start in the XPS forum pages and pages about heat and throttling. There are a few threads in the studio forum as well but it doesn't seem to be as big of an issue.

The S-XPS 16 is sort of a premium version of the Studio 15 in my opinion.
In the same way that the Studios have better build quality than the Inspirons, the S-XPS 16 is just one step higher than the Studio 15.

Don't forget the differences in resolution. The XPS 16 offers 1600x900 and 1920x1080, while the Studio 15 offers 1366x768 and 1920x1080. And the XPS 16 has a dual microphone array if you care ;)
