This only started happening a few days ago (I got my laptop 2 weeks ago). It's an Inspiron 1520, and I have an 8600m GT. In all the games, after maybe 20 minutes of play, the game would suddenly stall momentarily. It's like it's going to crash but somehow fixes itself. I was wondering if that means anything? Is my videocard being damaged in any way? Or is this not enough info? =(

Update drivers, turn off all background apps, monitor temps.

sepharite, what game are you playing?

I'm having a similar problem in F.E.A.R. Combat.
It stops working, the screen goes black, and I hit "Ctrl+Esc" and it takes me to the Start Menu, and everything works fine.
Then when I finally quit playing, it tells me that the drivers failed in a little popup message.
Unfortunately, I don't know what to do since Dell hasn't released any new drivers for the M1530 and it won't let me install the latest Forceware. (I didn't do a clean install). -
Disabling background items will help! -
I'm running either Half-Life 2, COD4, or Crysis. And my drivers are all updated. But I think you're right about the background apps. Useless virus scan I got for free keeps crashing my programs, how ironic is that =S Just glad it isn't my vid card screwing up. =D
