This only started happening a few days ago (I got my laptop 2 weeks ago). It's an Inspiron 1520, and I have an 8600m GT. In all the games, after maybe 20 minutes of play, the game would suddenly stall momentarily. It's like it's going to crash but somehow fixes itself. I was wondering if that means anything? Is my videocard being damaged in any way? Or is this not enough info? =(

Update drivers, turn off all background apps, monitor temps.

I'm having a similar problem in F.E.A.R. Combat.

It stops working, the screen goes black, and I hit "Ctrl+Esc" and it takes me to the Start Menu, and everything works fine.

Then when I finally quit playing, it tells me that the drivers failed in a little popup message.

Unfortunately, I don't know what to do since Dell hasn't released any new drivers for the M1530 and it won't let me install the latest Forceware. (I didn't do a clean install).

yup, as above! Simply sounds like its got too much to deal with, then continues to work normally after its "caught up"...

    Disabling background items will help!

I'm running either Half-Life 2, COD4, or Crysis. And my drivers are all updated. But I think you're right about the background apps. Useless virus scan I got for free keeps crashing my programs, how ironic is that =S Just glad it isn't my vid card screwing up. =D
