Suddenly no sound from Studio 1737

Hi experts and experience users,

Below is my configure for Studio 1737 (no bluetooth/finger print reader) Outlet price $600.

I had it for 10 days and didn't install or touch any settings when I received it. Only had windows updated a few days ago. To test video/audio, I ran dvd and some sample wmv for a few days, video great, audio fine.

Everything was great until today, no sound suddenly...Tried to remove all sound devices in Device Manager and system restore to 1st day and still no sound. I had the notebook ON for an hour or so, then suddenly have sound again..

Is this a common problem or bug in Studio 1737 and how to fix?
Beside this, the notebook is super and love it,.

Minor issues, when bring up control panel, the window stop respond sometimes. common also?

Does all 1737 come with Roxio CD or it is within some restore dvd?

check if you have sound when you got a headset plugged in.

try rolling back your IDT HD codec driver.

i've updated windows vista and it stopped working on the pc speakers.
i rolled back on the codec drivers and now it works.

I checked both speaker and headset before and no sound. Tried moving the volume mixer and the volume in Control Panel/Manage audio devices/ playback & Recording/ LEVEL , still nothing. As I said, suddenly sound came back without a clue.

I am just a girl who don't know any tech. terms. Can you please tell me what roll back IDT HD codec driver means?

 

Try uninstalling the IDT audio drivers altogether. They really do nothing that the default Windows HD audio drivers can't. Also, it may increase your volume output, since IDT seems to artificially cap your volume.

I uninstalled my IDT drivers, and I haven't looked back since.

 

newbiec, i'm not sure that this will solve the problem... but if you want to try...

Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Device manager

this will open up the device manager window.

go down the list and click the [+] sign next to Sound, Video and game controllers

you will see 2 listings

-High Definition Audio Device
-IDT High Def Audio Codec

rt click on IDT one and select properties

select driver tab

there should be a button for roll back driver.

in any case, whatever you do, make sure you backup your data on a removable media, not the hard drive.

hope you solve your issues.

btw, to roll back a driver, it usually applies if it has been updated... gives you an option to go back to the old driver.

Roll back driver option is not available to click.. no new driver install. Anyway, I learned something new. Thanks

Mastershroom - I read about this. Doesn't this disable those touch sensitive media button???
