    Dear friends,

DELL has only allowed customers to purchase a glossy LCD/LED for their XPS line. For those that have had their XPS for some time, how have you been able to cope as you use a glossy LCD in outdoor conditions. Is it impossible? Have you bought a anti-reflective protector? Please give suggestions and comments. Thank you so much

    :)

Actually, using it outdoors, glossy screens are better. Under fluorescent lights, such as in an office, anti-glare will reduce the glare. But outside with light hitting the screen at all angles, it becomes saturated and becomes unreadable.

Glossy screens, if the brightness is turned up all the way are still visible outdoors.

So you would recommend glossy over matte for outdoor use?

Very interesting statement. First, I can confirm your statement regarding matte screens in outdoor-sunny weather, its unreadable even with brightness maxed.

Now, regarding glossy, well cant confirm since I haven't received my purchase ;)

I'd love to hear other users and if people agree with kkl1014's sentiments that glossy screens are in fact better in sunny conditions than matte.

With brightness maxed on my LED, I was able to use my M133O outdoors in the middle of a bright and sunny day.

It did not occur to me to check against a matte screen, but my recollection is that a matte screen will be unusable in direct sunlight.

It is annoying, though, in offices, to have the fluorescent light reflected on the M133O's screen. It is still usable, though, and a very nice screen.
