Sunshine Yellow 1720, anyone who ordered after Aug23, recieved theirs yet?

? Has anyone recieved an Inspiron 1720 after ordering it after August 23? Thank you for any responses!

 

i doubt it there are 1720 but not yellow color.

there is a 1721 received but it way before august.

 

no 1720's shipped at all as far as i know, and i ordered mine about a month before you

what is the causing the current delay, i mean some people claim to have ordered theirs after me and they have already received theirs?

I know of no yellow 1720's shipped, i have seen one 1721 that has been. Not sure, must be having some probs with the yellow paint or somethin

 

It might end up like White M1330s. (After countless delays, the colour eventually got cancelled...). Sager seems so attractive right now...

Just curious though... why are you guys all waiting for this? Why not cancel?

 

Because i'm not in Dire need for it, so I can wait it out. My Inspiron 5100 is still plugging away for me. I'd rather wait then get something else...If I'm spending this much money, I want what I want, not what I can get now.

 

maybe on dec 24 santa will sneak into the dell factory and grab my laptop for me

on the direct 2 dell website someone ordered a Yellow 1720 and received it 2 weeks later :-\ (ordered late august, received early september)

 

No way... unless he bought refurbished.

Not an update per se, and certainly not an order placed in August or later, but since its a thread about yellow 1720's, I'ld thought I would add my 2 cents.

Ordered my yellow Inspiron on the 24th of July, still in pre-production (or production if my dell rep has insisted for the past 1+ month). I know Europe is behind the ball compared to say, America, and the Inspirons are still having parts/backorder trouble, but anyone know what it exactly is? The screens, or the color yellow?

You can see the specs in my sig, finger's crossed this depressing wait time will be over soon (goes for everyone else still waiting too).

I've got a nice Sunshine Yellow 1721 that I order 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, it looks as if it's going to be delayed as it's still in the build stage with one day to go. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow to get a new ESD.

 

So, I called Dell today aas it's supposed to ship today. Apparently there are two delays with my system. The 17" Anti-Glare Wide Screen monitor and the yellow case. I ordered on August 17th, so just a heads up to you 17" Sunshine Yellow 172x orders out there. There are delays

 

Yikes, that's not good news. I can't believe it takes that long for these items to be restocked. Especially the yellow covers. A fair few within the last month have gotten their yellow Inspirons, so why is there still a shortage? It's not like the color yellow is hugely popular...I guess they just don't bother to make large enough batches of yellow covers to cover every order out there, but that's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I haven't heard anything from my rep yet as to what the delays are, should be interesting to see if she tells me the same thing.

 

What's sad is that I ordered mine just after "backordered" was removed from the pink and yellow descriptors so I thought it wouldn't get hung up there. I can understand the monitor issue and I hope I don't get a bummer of a monitor when it does come.

I just talked to someone via the chat software and they were india, so I'd love to hear what your representative has to say.

 

i ordered mine on 27/08 and i am still waiting. As of today its still in pre production (has been since 22/09, which was the original delivery date) with an est del date of 18/10. I can't see this being met.

When i ordered my old laptop was still working, but it has since died and i am without a computer and very seriously considering cancelling.

 

Mine has officially shipped, should be here tommorow. Ordered 7-27, so that makes....78 Days

As for me, I just got an email back from my rep saying that they don't have the chassis, but that it's arriving on the 12th (ie this Friday), and then my laptop will be able to enter production. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I certainly hope she is right. Although, I wonder what she exactly means by "chassis"...

Guess we will find out soon enough.

 

That's strange. If they don't have the chassis... then it means that their entire line of 1720 and 1721s are halted?

 

Recieved my Sunshine on Friday October 12th. 78 Days after order. Very Impressed with the system so far, and I have run into no issues with vista, or connecting to the network. Display is Very Bright, and Very Sharp. With the 1920 x 1200 using the touchpad to move accross screen is a bit of a challenge, but with a wireless mouse works great!

The Yellow is a very nice bright mettalic like yellow, liking it a lot more than i thought I would

Just thought I'd point out that I received an email today telling me that it will be delayed again until the 26th, despite the fact that it is in boxing.

Mine has actually been shipped since the 17th of Nov, but now I've hitched another snag. It was supposed to be delivered last week friday (19th Nov) by UPS, but so far up untill today, I havn't received it, and no word from them on what might be the problem. This is just ridiculous, how hard can it be to deliver a laptop....the place it was to be delivered from is only 45 minutes drive away...

 

em... Salu, I think you are one month into the future their but mine has shipped(yesterday), hope to receive it on Monday and I hope to publish pics, and not to banish the tribe, but I have changed my order to Midnight Blue.

On the other hand, finally heard some more after calling them (its always up to me to get updated info huh?), it seems UPS has LOST my computer. That's right, it's vanished into thin air. Yipee...so now I am back to square one. Why oh why did I ever set foot on this accursed pathway to despair and sorrow?!?
And Human, I don't blame you for changing to midnight blue; whatever it takes to just get the computer to you in the first place huh? And even if that wasn't the reason, blue is my second favourite color, so you're still ok

 

You guys have me SOOOOOOO Nervous. I ordered a 1720, on 10/22/07 with a Ruby Red casing. They say it will ship 10/31/07, and arrive, 11/02/07. I wonder realistically when its coming. On their website, on 10/24/07 it was statused as in production, so I called the TN, and it said its in the boxing stage. Does dell lie about the stage a lot. How long till you guys heard about the delay? I Need the system by 11/07/07. !!

 

Well I guess Ruby Red is the lucky color, becausemy laptop is on its way !

I ordered both a yellow and a red 1720 (UK) on the 29th Oct and they have both apparently been dispatched (31st Oct).

I'm still waiting for the catch naturally
