    Every website that sells memory, like Crucial, NewEgg, etc., all state that the Smartstep 250N can only be upgraded to 1 gig of memory. However, since I had the memory out of another laptop handy, I tried 2 gig, and, surprise!.... it recognized it, and runs fine, with no hickups or issues.

    If you're running some memory intensive tasks in your old lappy, or doing a lot of multi-tasking, give this a try before buying a new one.

    Wow..that's a really old notebook. I am really surprised that you were able to go beyond 1GB of ram on that machine.
