So - I'm looking to upgrade the screen on my XPS m1530 - which has a craptacular 1280x800 screen (I believe it's the CCFL version).
I happen to have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laying around with a nicer 1680x1050 screen.
And so - I was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to swap the screens between these two laptops and if I can just swap the LCDs - without swapping inverters.
Thanks

Your best bet would be to just take the screens out and compare the connector on the back of the LCD.

Well - to answer my own question - it works.... but with a few caveats.
1. The frame of the inverter is different on each panel - so some chop shop work was needed to make each fit on to the other panel. It did not work without swapping inverters.
2. For some reason - whenever I try to turn the brightness up, it goes down, and vice versa. Happens with both panels once they've been swapped. Can't figure out why - but other than that - they seem to be working great. -
would love some pictures
