I have two laptops bought in the UK - a Dell Inspiron 1300 and a Dell Inspiron 6000. Both have 15.4" WXGA LCDs.

The 1300 has a broken motherboard (smokes when PSU connected!). The 6000 has a busted screen. Should the 1300 screen work in the 6000 laptop if I try and fit it?

yes they will transplant, I do recomend keeping the existing inverter and ribbon cable that runs to the back of the screen. once you have the panel out remove the tape covering the cable and connector at the back and do your connections there. once you have the screens apart it will be somewhat obvious what to do. if you get stuck let me know and i will try to walk you through
