I've been waiting 4 weeks or my system exchange through 1 cancellation and and 20+ calls to get it straightened out, I finally found out mine is shipping today.

They actually gave me a pretty decked out 1737, but it only has a WXGA+... I had spoke with the tech that took my requirements and told him my only concerns were discrete video and wuxga screen. He told me that most likely i would get a 1737 but they only had WXGA+ and I told him that not acceptable and he asked what about studio xps 16's 1080p display which I agreed to.

Apparently that didn't mean anything, am I better off having them replace the screen on the shipped system with a wuxga(even though its no longer offered) or refusing the system and only accepting the 16?

    Thanks.

Well if your current laptop is unsuable then I wouldnt refuse shipment. At the very least you can use the studio 1737 until they either replace your screen or send you another laptop. On top of that, if you refuse shipment who knows, it may be another 4 weeks before they send you another one. I had a similar issue. I was sent a studio xps16 with the lowest resolution even though I came from a system with a 1920*1200 display. After much arguing and multiple reps, someone sent an on site repair guy to my home with a new 1920*1080 display for my current studio xps16 system. Honestly, depending on the specs of your old system, the only laptop that would be of equal or higher specifications of all areas when compared to your old laptop may be the new studio 17's that were released a couple days ago. If you somehow managed to get that I would be very jealous. But honestly its only fair in my opinion. Why should you have to give up an inch of screen space on a replacement like I did if they send you a studio xps 16. That being said im still happy with my laptop

Call them after you get the replacement, and be firm that you didn't get an equal replacement.

I called them before receiving, and got two responses... 1 that they would replace the screen and the second was that they would order my a differant laptop . Dell withdrew the laptop and now i have to wait at least another week.

This will probably be my last dell... Support just continues to get more difficult to deal with every year.

What was your original system speced and what were they going to give you on the new Studio 17? I might be getting a replacement and this problem of not getting something with at least or better video card and LCD screen are my top concerns. My current one is the best you can get, 17" E1705 1920x1200 resolution glossy LCD WITH true 8-bit color. It's a beautiful screen.

it was a 1720 with 1920x1200 and discrete video. Dell stopped offering 1920x1200 in the 1735 a while ago and there are only a few in the outlet (meaning only a few for the replacement team to pickup when picking your refurbished unit).

I'd actually prefer the 1640 over the 1737 because I don't really like the design of the 1737... but the 1737 was very well spec'ed out besides the screen.

I am serious at the end of my patience and don't know where to go... The third system they created for me not only dont not have the 1920x1200 display it doesn't even have discrete video.

This is the second configuration after getting the dell escallation group involved, is there ANYONE at DELL that can help me get this sorted out.

Well after sending another email to escalations they have cancelled my latest order, but I have not been contacted about the NEXT replacement.
