Dell recently decided to replace my Inspiron 9400/E1705 with a Studio 1737, due to repeated problems with the graphics card. I received the replacement laptop and, a week later, sent back the Inspiron. Trouble is I accidentally left in an old hard drive that doesn't correspond to the system I sent back, by accident. The Inspiron came with a 160GB and I accidentally sent them my old 60GB.

Has anyone else returned a slightly different/lesser part with their old computer, by accident of course? Do you suppose Dell will confront me about this minor oversight!? I would appreciate your experience and/or opinions.

    Hey!

Can you please clarify...you sent them back your *old 60GB*, or is this a typo, and you meant to say *old 160GB*? :)

And, also it It depends on how thorough of a check Dell decides to do on the return of the lappy? You can either call them, and advise of what happened..or do the *wait and see* approach.

I don't think they will be looking at your return with a *magnifying glass* per se!

    Cin...

Thanks for the replies. It's not like I'm sending back an empty laptop casing, so it shouldn't be a problem ;) Cheers.

How closely does Dell check incoming laptops that are being sent back to them as part of an exchange?

Since dell refurbs the systems which are sent back to them, I'd say they must be checking them pretty closely.
