Is there that much a performance difference between the Intel® CoreTM Solo Processor T1300 and the Intel® Dual CoreTM Processor T2300 both 1.66GHz?

Depends on what you're doing. Two areas where Core Duo will shine:
1] Multi processor applications such as Photoshop
2] Doing two different applications at once, example: running a CPU entensive routine plus surfing at the same time. Where each process gets its own core.

This chart may help, compare Pentium M (very similiar to Core Solo) to Yonah (Core Duo):

    One thing...

The Sonoma isnt 65 nm! Yonah was the first mobile 65 nm processor.
