Im purchasing a Dell Vostro 1500, and it offers an upgrade from T5470 to T7250 for $100. I've already ordered the T5470 but Im having second thoughts. how much of a difference will it make and is it worth the upgrade? My main concern is gaming-- will my processor bottleneck my system? and finally can I upgrade the CPU at a later time?

~the specs are 2GB RAM, 8600M GT, XP

I have that processor and its just fine for me, but i haven't really used the laptop for gaming minus a little portal. I think it depends on the type of game whether or not the processor matters, but i wouldn't doubt you get a little better performance with a faster processor. 100 dollars to upgrade is a little expensive though.

You can upgrade it later to any of the newest ones (even 9xxx series ones). It will void your warranty however, so you are best off doing it once your warranty runs out.

I agree with that. I would say 85-90 % of games available today are more GPU dependent as opposed to CPU. Unless you are wanting to run something like Flight Simulator X which is more CPU dependent than GPU. You should have little trouble running todays games. What you might have to sacrifice is some of the nice eye candy so you can run your games but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying them,
