Is it possible to swap the T6500 in my Dell Studio 1555 with the P8400 in my HP 6530b...how tough is it to do it?
and also will it result in voiding the warranty?

The 1555 will definitely take a P8400 and the 6530b will definitely take a T6500. Dell and HP both have service manuals detailing the replacement of laptop parts, and if you can follow instructions, it shouldn't be too hard.

Not 100% sure about the warranty coverage on this. I think it should be okay, but you're at least gonna want to keep that T6500 such that you can restore the 1555 to its factory configuration if anything goes wrong.

Dell will almost certainly tell you that you shouldn't/can't do it on your own. You might be able to get someone from Dell to swap the processor on the Dell for a price, but even then, I doubt it. In general they don't really want you messing with the machine...

hmmmm...but i think Ill ask dell creating a hypothetical situation to know whether anything happens to the warranty...also because i plan to take the extended warranty, hence i dont want anything messing with tht...
but in a prefect world there shudnt be any problem with the swapped processors on both the machines right?

Yes, there should definitely not be any compatibility problems with the swapped processors.
