I would like to get opinion beofre i return my original laptop. Here is the story. I have "Close the lid and computer won't wake up issue", so Dell gave me a replacement. However, it comes with T7500 with 5400 HD; instead of the T7100 with 7200 HD that I originally have. I would like to know if i should settle with new configurations? What difference will you get? I don't play games but I do video editing. What do you think??? Also, should I ask for $100 difference in price or ask for replacement? I would like to know this before i return the old unit in couple days. Thanks.

Why not just swap the HDD?

They let me do that with my replacement.

I would accept the faster CPU, and if you ask for the $100 that will help you differ your cost if you wanna upgrade HDD to 7200. 400Mhz and 2MBL2 extra is nice. Someone could say the opposite and they would have a point as the CPU is not usually the bottleneck the HDD is. Value wise w/$100 Upgrade HDD buy enclosure and you have nice external storage and faster CPU.

Why not just put the 7200rpm drive in the replacement?
It's as simple as taking out a few screws.

The USB connection would be a bottle neck for 7200RPM. Put it on the 5400.

I had tried swap the HD, it works. No need to re-install OS. It detect different DVD drive and install the driver automatically. No problem there. However, the "lid close and system won't wake up unless I press the power botton" problem is there. Now, I know it's the 7200 HD have problem. The 7200 HD also seems much louder. So... Instead of going through all the trouble of re-install OS in 7200 HD to try to fix the problem.... I think I will try to ask $100 back (price difference on Dell's Website). If I can't do it, I think I will ask for brand new 7200 replacement.

imo the 7200 rpm is a bit loud if i had to do it again id prob go 5400 and spend the money elsewhere imo you made out great .. get maybe 100$ back and call it a day or swap the drives out.. but id guess if you do that they will not credit you money back.. since you are getting the best of both that way..
