Okay, I ordered my inspiron that had T7300 processor and 120g 5400rpm hard drive.

Then I found a new offer on the dell site that had T7100 processor and 160g 5400 rpm hard drive, and all other specs are equal. Plus, this option is $100 cheaper.

Is this new option a better deal? Is there that much of a difference between 7100 and 7300?

Also, if I do decide to go for the new offer, I can cancel my order without being charged anything right?

    Thx in advance

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 160gb/2GB ram for free deal still going?

The second option is a no-brainer. And, no, there won't be a charge to cancel your order. But, if you don't want your ship date to be pushed out, you shouldn't cancel it.

And to answer a question not asked I think you should get the 7200 RPM. :)

Is 7200 that much better than 5400? Enough to warrant the extra $100?

Hard drives can be added externally later, and the difference between 7200 and 5400 isnt noticeable according to most, also 7200 uses more battery power. I would go with the faster cpu, i think it also has 2mb extra cache over the T7100.

i dont think its worth 100 bucks to go from 5400rpm to 7200rpm. I didnt think it was worth 50 bucks for me to upgrade.

Always favor faster processor...hard drives are easily and cheaply replaceable later.

The faster proccesor is a better option, becouse the HD you cna upgrade it later, and the processor will stay the same.

T7300 + 120g HDD... you can always upgrade the harddrive for cheaper aftermarket...you usually cant change the processor (or if you do it voids the warranty)... + you dont have to deal with the delay =)
