Looking to upgrade the CPU in my M2010, I was puzzled why the prices of the T7600 are still so high? At Newegg, for instance, the T7600 is about twice the price of the T7700, and the T7700 seems to have better specs (just not compatible with systems that use a T7600).

Any speculation as to why the T7600 is still so expensive?

Maybe because they were never made in the volumes that the T7700 etc were made in?

It's old technology. Look at pc100 and pc133 ram. It's insanely expensive compared to ddr2 pc5300.

    Google "supply and demand"

While I agree with your PC100/133 RAM analogy, the T7600 is not "old technology". It's still Core2Duo, and just one generation off from currently sold technology, plus, the Dell M2010 still is sold with the T7600, so it certainly isn't old.

Now, DDR2-800 vs DDR2-667 is more like the T7600 vs. T7700 comparison, and DDR2-800 is more expensive...the opposite of the T7700...

The T7600 is more like a T7500 in real life.

T7600 is a socket M 478 pin processor, Top end os this kind of socket. This socket just have 667 fsb suport.
T7700 is a socket P 478 pin processor, midle range on this kind of socket. This socket have up to 800Mhz fsb.
Socket P 478 and socket M 478 is not the same, and no interchangeable.
That's why the T7600 processor is much more expensive than T7700. And the Socket M technology will be no more produced by intel.
