is there a real big diffrence?

If you're gaming, I'd suggest you go for the T9300 for the increased clock speed and the larger amount of L2 cache.

T8300 is the best choice, unless you can afford the price increase for some minimum gaming gains...

I would also be interested to know this. I ordered a T9300 simply because I could afford it, so I thought better to have than to wonder what might have been.

I think the extra cache allows the processor to get data for processing quicker, I could be way off though.

as if its like 5-15% quicker, its not worth the extra £60 but if its more, it is

Unless you have the money, go for the T8300; The T9300 is not much faster as far as clock speed, and seeing as Intels L2 cache has diminishing returns, im not sure its worth it to go for the T9300. I dont know the exact numbers, but i know the difference is minimal at best.

I agree, especially for gaming purposes. The GPU is much more important. Your CPU will score higher in 3DMark, but in real life you'll see little difference in FPS.

The T9300 has twice the cache of the T8300. If your games are more processor dependent, then you might see an increase in speed. But most games are more video card dependent. I think it's usually strategy games that have to calculate the AI of many different fighting units that are processor dependent. FPS games would be more video card dependent

I don't have benchmarks on hand, but I can tell you that for gaming, it will certainly be less than 15% increase.

That is true; if you play alot of newer RTS games then the T9300 would suit you better, otherwise i say the T8300 is much better for the money.

The LED screen upgrade is probably a better upgrade than the processor upgrade.

Anyone know exactly how big the difference would be on these areas, noticable difference?

    • HD playback
    • Media encoding, x264
    • Image processing, photoshop

And for kicks: How big is the difference between these and a T2300 (Core Duo 1.66 GHz, 2MB L2)?
