I've been using my TrueLife glossy screen in a conservatory recently and the glare was a problem. Now the Mini is supposed to be used out and about, right?

Which makes me think a matt screen would be great to have as an option. Is screen glare a problem with the Mini?

End of the month...but w/how fast these months have been passing...it's really, not to far off.

And, hopefully..Dell will be ahead of the ESD. :)

This tiny netbook with your huge 1730 ~ What a compliment! ;) :)

got my eeepc 1000h today. Now that I've had the time to play around with it, I'm actually kind of glad that I had all that ordeal with the I9 and got this instead. The keyboard is right at the threshold of being usable for me, so anything smaller would have been bad.

    Hi All,

My Mini is in production (ordered on 9/29), but I noticed today on the Dell site that the webcam is no longer listed as an option.

    Any ideas why?

I asked yesterday when they called to say my order was about 3 days from shipping. I was told they do still offer the option. I read somewhere that this was a glidge in the system.

how do you like it so far? I'm getting impatient with Dell and I'm about to just give up on them altogether and stop ordering stuff from them and close my DPA. I am currently looking for an alternative to the mini.

This is going to sound wacky to some, and definitely wouldn't work for some, but here's what I did after looking at the Asus machines and almost buying an Aspire One and actually ordering (then cancelling) an I9. I looked at my desktop, a very beefy XPS, and my notebook, an M1330 and thought about what I wanted for really mobile use. Then I bought...

...an iPod Touch. 32gb...wireless...email...doesn't do Excel or Word, true...but fits in my shirt pocket...works for most of what I wanted the I9 for. YMMV and probably does, but it works for me...

    Hi.

I had to send back an XPS m1330 because of the CPU whine when running on battery. Can anyone tell me if the Mini also has this whine?

The bad thing, I think is...that Dell is giving away I9's with the deal on the 1530...and I feel that's unfair...I mean..they can't even keep up with past orders like your's... :(

I'm sorry your going thru this *over and over* with Dell, Cmarcho! :(

The deal was posted here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4010209#post4010209

But it seems to be expired now. I think Dell saw the post by Cin' (#1309) and decided they should focus on getting the Dell Mini's shipped to the people who ordered a month ago. ;)

Some people have said when they first get the mini they take off Mcafee.
Is there a smaller program or different one you use? Why do you take it off?
    Thanks for any information.

I had Spysweeper on my desktop for about 3 years. Its made by webtroot. Never had any problems. I then put it on my mini and other laptop. Works perfect. McAfee is a crappy program.

ESET's NOD32 is a nobrainer for best antivirus program. Spysweeper is not antivirus.

I better join this board and say hi...I ordered a mini 9 on the 4th with a ship date of 10/27. I wanted a red one and Ubuntu but just didn't want to wait any longer.sooo those of you waiting for red it should be available as soon as mine ships.

Does anyone think when Ubuntu becomes available from dell we can down load it and install it?

    Phil

yea, even dealing with Hp they only want you to send in the battery and power cord if the problem directly involves deals with them.

I cant wait to use it at home and at class..... Has anyone had any performance issues loading MS Office 07? Any other performance essential do's and don'ts for when it arrives?

Has Dell announced any information on whether they are releasing a 6 cell battery or not?

Also, are coupons or special deals common for the I9? I'm debating whether to just pick it up from my school store or wait to see if anything comes out to make it cheaper.

Last question, can you install a standard hard drive instead of the ssd?

    Thanks.

While I’m waiting for one of my two Dell Minis to arrive I’ve been reading other message boards and blogs to see what modifications or adjustments I might want to make to the Mini when it arrives. I’ve compiled a list of links so I thought I would share them here and also ask if people have found other helpful Dell Mini related links, message boards or blogs.

Since I have not received my Dell Mini I have not personally tried any of the below.

They show it shipped today, 10/12, for delivery 10/14. I would have rather received it tomorrow cause I'm off work and could play all day but I'm supposed to be spending time with the hubby anyway. Wouldn't be nice to be obsessing over a toy all day with him off too. :p
