THE deal with the M1330s.

Ok, I've created a new thread so people don't have to search through the huge massive extraordinarily large thread.

My dad is great at getting what he wants over the phone, and today he got through (after 2.75 hours) to THE Sales Director for the UK in Limerick. This is what he said:

NOTE: This is what the guy said, it may not be any more credible than a normal CSR but I'm inclined to believe it is. You can form your own judgement.

  Yes, it is a shortage of glass that is causing the hold-ups. Their supplier has let them down.

• Dell apparently have 64,000 orders for m1330s worldwide.

• They are naturally working their hardest but there's not a lot they can do.

• Dell are reluctant to tell people who ordered in late june/early july when their orders will ship, hence the weird csr.

• According to the Sales Director, he said he's "dreading" telling the people who order today when theirs will ship.

OK, that is all I have to tell you. Believe me if you want, decide not to if you want, flame me if you want but it seems plausible to me.

 

yikes, judging from calculations , thats like 100- 120 million dollars worth of notebooks

 

$120,000,000 gross. So how much profit do you think they make per laptop before concisions? like $600, $700? Either way if they do not get 64,000 cancelled orders they will make a lot of money even with concisions.

 

The glass rumor thing was confirmed 100% not true by a corporate rep this morning . We are still looking at a good 14 days before we see these things mass produced. These 3 things will factor in to when your order ships

1) Order date

2) Discounts used

3) Dept you ordered from


I expect to see 1 or 2 1330's in forum members hands by the end of next week.

HCW are you still sticking to the "I know Michael Dell's Assistant story". Give it up man, your an everyday guy waiting for his XPS like the rest of us. Or Michael Dell's assistant doesn't know **** about the company and computers (highly doubtful).
