I'm about to buy a new machine for work purposes and the m1330 seems almost ideal (the 100MB NIC and lack of a docking station are unfortunate, but a trade off I'm willing to make). However, there is 1 potential deal breaker for me and that's the ability to use BitLocker in Vista with a TPM.

Nowhere on the Dell web site can I find any details on whether or not the m1330 comes with a TPM chip. I've called in and spoken to a couple of people at Dell who claim that it does, but none of them can produce any documentation to confirm. So, my question to any m1330 owners out there is: does the m1330 have a TPM 1.2 chip on board? You likely see the presence of the chip in the BIOS, or in Device Manager, under Security Devices.

    Thanks for any info!

    Unfortunately...

no one has the m1330 yet! :-(... maybe in a week or two (international users should be getting their m1330's by then).

    The hunt goes on...

Yeah and I would not trust Dell sales as far as I could throw them. They seem to say yes to everything.

It looks like a couple of forum posters are getting their laptops shipped soon (in the UK) so you might wait and ask them.

The interesting thing about these chips and "loss of freedom" concerns is that they are actually ILLEGAL in countries like China and Russia.
