Just 2 question:
1) The SC03 from samsung is it better firmware that the dell firmware DE04?
2) can i change the dell firmware DE04 by the samsung firmware SC03 on my TSST L632D?

nobody know the answer?

If the fimeware has been confirmed to work on the same exact drive and model, then you should be able to change it. It's like patching a Drive for the desktop. Make sure you reseach it though, before you patch it.

The DE04 has no DVD-RAM and no DVD-R DL (or was it DVD+R DL) support. The SC04 firmware does.

At www.toshibaer.com you find the SC04 firmware and required flash tool (and other tools).
Use sfdnwin -nocheck to cross-flash.
Use a version 3.25 of lower, otherwise the nocheck option is suppressed.
Good luck! -
Which drives are the best amongst the ones spewed out by DELL? I got the same as yours, and I have to say, it is the worst if there ever was one.
It cannot read, write or do anything with the media. And not one but 2 of the same models.
I'm glad that DELL is now sending me an LG drive. How are the LG drivers as compared to the TSST TS-L632D ones? Good? Bad? Same?
Or did I miss something and these drives are actually good? -
How do I use the nocheck option? What tools do I need to have? I have the SC04 (provided in the first link), and as expected, it is not updating my drive. Please help.

"It cannot read, write or do anything with the media."
Which media do you refer to? - Any specific or in general?
I have no idea, what is wrong, but my drive TS L632-D works properly with both the DE04 (no DVD-RAM, no DVD-R DL write) and the SC04 firmware.
I cannot say, which DELL drive is the best.
You have to use sfdnwin version 3.25.X, where X is the specific version that you want to use, e.g. 3.25.4.
Move the SFDNWIN3.25.X.exe into the same folder as the .bin firmware file that you want to flash. Open the command line interface (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command prompt).
Then type the drive letter where your folder is located, e.g. "d:"
Then type 'cd "path to your folder" ', e.g. 'cd myfirmwarefolder'
Now the prompt should read something like D:\myfirmwarefolder
Type 'dir' to see, whether the sfdnwin tool and the .bin file are in the folder.
Then type ''SFDNWIN3.25.X.exe -nocheck". The Program window opens and displays the little text "nocheck option", that the nocheck option is active. Then you can open the firmware with the left button and burn it with the middle one.
Good luck and don't mess it up by using the wrong firmware!

can I use the RPC1 drivers?
EDIT: When I put a blank disk into the drive I get the following error D:\ is not accessible incorrect function. It does it with both the samsung and dell drivers. the drive works fine with previously burned and normal CD/DVDs.
