I notice that this problem has happened to some people...
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=75428&page=3

I also got the same problem with my TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632D
I'm using laptop Dell inspiron E1505.
The thing is, I can read cd/dvd from it, but not burn/write.
I'm using nero to burn the disc and the progress will succeed but when I try to use the disc, it will show as an empty disc.
I've upgraded the driver from dell's site, still no luck tho.

is there anyone who can solve this problem?
    please help :(

ps: This is my 1st post, I hope I don't break any rules. Thanks

What type of disk are you attempting to burn? DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW?

    CD-R & CD-RW. I think I've tried DVD-R too but no luck.
It can read but not write (blank disc)

I know the problem you speak of. It is mainly because the optical drive in the E1505 is of very low quality. I think I have burned 3 successful discs on the original TSST optical drive for my laptop. I could not deal with it and well Dell gave me a replacement TSST drive which did the same thing.
So when I need to burn something, I put the project or whatever it is I need to burn on my memory card and I burn it on my other laptop which has a Pioneer optical drive. It has burned probably over 100 discs and it works really well.

If your E1505 is out of warranty, I recommend getting a Pioneer DVR-K16 or K17 for it.
If your laptop is under warranty, ask for a replacement optical drive and hope you do not get another TSST
    or
    try cleaning the optical drive.

Open the optical drive as one normally would.
Locate the laser on the drive. (about 4mm in diameter) Use a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and gently swirl the tip on the lens in order to clean off any debris. Once clean try burning the disc again.

If it works, it may work for a few more burns, but these TSST drives have always been finicky.
They are cheap for a reason. TSST = Toshiba Samsung Storage Technologies

oh well I think I'll try the pioneer DVR then.
it's so frustrating to see the half use of my writer ... can read not write lol
    anyway thanks K-TRON :)
