I'm looking into picking up a TV tuner for my Dell Inspiron 1420. I live in a dorm at college and have a TV in my room however I want to split the cable and be able to watch from my laptop as well...I'm new to this stuff so any info. is appreciated. I'm looking at the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-950. Obviously I need a USB connection since I have a laptop. Anybody own this one, comment on it? Other options? Looking to spend under $100 from eBay.

I wouldnt trust any of them under $50. Go on newegg and check for one with the best reviews, USB, then go to ebay and check them out.

I would also look into getting a powered USB 2.0 hub for the latpop to run the card. I managed to overload my onboard usb once with a tv card.

I thought I have responded to this thread previously. Anyway, I got a Pinnacle USB HDTV Stick Pro for ~$50 after discount. It works great with my Vostro 1400 (a twin of Inspiron 1420).

what is the difference between the pinnacle hd pro stick and just the pinnacle HD stick? From what I understand it just does not have the antenna which I won't be using anyways...

I can just split my cable line coming into my room and then plug that in and get all the channels in clear right ?
