    Question:

The TV Tuner for the 9300, is it the USB external unit or a built in unit?

    Thanks in advance

    I think its built-in.

I've found usually for the notebooks on Dell.com that when the TV Tuner is a USB adapter it will clearly state that it is one. If its not, it would just state that its a TV tuner in it.

I just looked and it didnt say it was a USB adapter TV tuner. I would think its safe to say its built in. USAFDude should be back soon, he has the 9300. He will know for sure.

I didn't get the TV-tuner. I have done some research and have found older reviews that the TV tuner was external. I have read some newer reviews that say it is internal. I would go to the tech chat and ask them to be sure. I would have to think it is internal because of the newer reviews and the older reviews complained about the external. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a link you can provide with that info?

Or do you know first hand?

Great reply, glad you could help.

I agree. I wish it was internal. As I said before I was reading some reviews and people have said it was internal...maybe they had problems with it and had to make it external.

Mine is a hauppauge pvr2 or what ever the heck it is. I didn't like the external part too much at first but it allows me to leave the whole thing home when I go. You have to either hook up the antenna / cable or the usb anyway. I haven't found any real reason to want it internal now that I do have it. It is a special package for MCE.

The dell tuner for the i9300 I received a month ago was external USB powered. I have one, works well, very compact. No FM though.

no internal...came with usb. the only notebook that i known of when i bought my i9300 in april was the Fujitsu n6010. Why i didnt purchase the n6010 was because of the pentium 4
