I am thinking about using a TV Tuner with my Vostro1400.
    Anyone using one?
    Which brand and type?
I am thinking about using the USB type. I assume using the card will be more difficult as you may have to replace the graphic card?

I just want to be bale to record some TV programs and that is about it using either the coax cable or the component out.
I am kind of a noob in this so any help is appreciated.

Your video card supports XvMC so no need to replace it.

Look for a card that supports ATSC (or DVB-T outside North America) for wireless or QAM (DVB-C) for cable.

Is there a way to add a Dell internal ATSC TV Tuner card for an inspiron 1720 instead of going the USB route?

The Radeons don't support XvMC so you'll have to use software decoding. 720p and below should be fine, but 1080i might not work reliably.

The newer Dells should have 3 expansion slots, one which is used by the 802.11 card and another by the Bluetooth card if installed. If you have an empty slot, then you can install a compatible card. Not too sure about the antenna problem, however.
