    hi everyone.
I have a inspiron 6000 and i sometimes connect it to my tv to watch videos on. I want to be able to close the lid on the laptop but whenever i do the tv loses the signal from the laptop. Is there a way to stop that from happening. I was thinking it might have something to do with the lcd screen of the laptop turning off so is there a way to stop it from turning off?

Check your power settings. It's possible that the notebook goes into standby or turns off the screen once you close the lid which would result into losing the signal.

Thanks for answering. well there is a part in the power settings which says what to do when the lid is closed. The options are go into standby, hibernate or do nothing. I have it set at do nothing but the tv still loses the signal when i close the lid.

Check the Windows Power Options as well. The link is in your Control Panel. Once you open up the properties, look in the advanced tab.
