I just got my GPU Idle temp to drop from 60 to 50 just by running without the battery in!

Was the battery charging before you took it out or was it just sitting in there at 100%

Works great on cooling, but you cannot use it unless it is also plugged in! :p

I guess it would be at room temperature if the battery was out and it was unplugged?

Something I noticed is that while even with my laptop plugged in with a dead battery, power settings the same my FPS has dropped during games vs having a charged battery in so I wonder if this coincides somehow. Also my brightness seems to be less without the battery.

The battery being "metalically dense" probably retains alot of the heat given off of the back of the laptop. I never have any heat issues but that advice is good to know just in case!
