It depends on the merchant, some take taxes, some don't. Check with them.

If you are buying from Dell, then most likely you will have tax. I'm not sure if Florida is one of the states or not. You can configure a laptop, then add it to your cart, and you should be able to see if there is a tax or not.

there is actual several states that have tax. I thought if you bought from their home site, then you wouldn't be taxed. I know all business purchases are taxed.

Flroida, Texas, New York, Tennesee, and California all have tax on Dell orders, I believe, and there may be some more I don't know off hand. The only state I'm 100% positive doesn't is West Virginia (because I have family who have bought Dell PCs there).

I believe that you will discover that if a business entity has ANY kind of presence in your state that they must collect sales tax. I remember thatthere was a merchant who only had outlets in NH but delivered to MASS was forced by MASS to submit tax payments because they had warehouses in MASS though no stores.

    Michigan taxed also.

Word of warning...Dell has been illegaly charging sales tax on thier warranty's. Many states ( Michigan included ) does not charge sales tax on services. I had to call and complain to Dells Tax department, and finaly got them to admit they were wrong and give me a refund.

no tax in OH when I ordered just over a year ago, but yes tax in NY :( dell has call centers in OK, FL, warehouses in TN, CA headquarters in TX and lord knows what in NY...it's just expensive so they figured they might as well tack on taxes i guess.

Yeah, when I was looking at the 9300 in the local Dell Direct store, the Dell Rep said that if Dell has a business presence in any state, they must charge sells tax. Another internet site for tax in Tennessee is Newegg.com. Darn that government for taking my money!!! lol
