I've been checking out this site for awhile. Incredible amount of info. Great source for my pre and post M1530 purchase. With 3 Dell laptops and 3 Dell desktops I felt compelled to join the team! I guess now I'm committed to set up a profile. Glad to be on board!

I could make a customer service FAQ thing. Like really common questions like 'how do I get the best price?' and 'how do I get free upgrades on my shipping?' and other stuff like that?

Did someone do this already? If not, I can whip something up. Give me a few days.

There is already an FAQ but it seems to be mainly about quality control issues (grainy screens, touchpad stuff I think). Make what you can, I'll find it and post the link to it here and we'll all help you add any FAQs we can come up with.

    Ok, sounds good.

The quality issues are pretty common sense. Call Dell..

But like a FAQ on ways you can word stuff and mention to have the upper hand. Kinda like a cheat sheet on how to cheat Dell?

I could team up with the owners of a new Inspiron owner to show how to upgrade the RAM in most Inspirons.

    Scott:

I see you have already linked the Reformat Thread but I'de just like to open the door to you linking and using any other threads that may assist, including the Tweaking thread.

If you go into my profile and "View Threads Started". you will find I have probably around 8-10 articles on things such as the Dell Purchase, Total Satisfaction Warranties, the Dell 30 Day Replacement Program, Dell battery life, hard drives compared, speeding up Start Times, Remapping the MediaDirect Button...and on and on and on....

Feel free to grab anything you like.

Im sure it is already picked up. What happened with my order was it said it was shipped on sunday. No word monday, then on tuesday, all of a sudden my laptop jumps between 3 states in the time span of 3 mins, then 30 mins later, ends up where I live.

Tracking is horribly inaccurate. I wouldnt be surprised if tracking updates after you receive your package.

Haha, good point. I'd rather see "Delivered" though, because I'd be outside on the patio right now removing bloatware, drinking a root beer float, and basking in the 88F weather.

Instead I'm sitting on a wooden chair in a house which has no AC cleaning my room.

Hasn't rained here in quite a while. Maybe a sprinkle, but after a nice wet cool spring, it's starting to get hot and dry.

Just checked my shipping status again, 43 hours after the shipment has been "Acknowledged", I'm still in that same stage.

I really, really hope my baby hasn't been sitting on a cold hard concrete floor and been forgotten about...

Why use a wireless mouse when you can use a wired one? I dont like the idea of my mouse running out of batteries. I got a Razer Copperhead and it serves me quite well.

    THE WAIT IS OVER!!!

It got here around 2:15PM. There was a small gap near the webcam, but I pushed that into place. Otherwise, no buldging keyboard, no loose covers on the bottom, I got my 6-cell, and the LED LCD is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!

Tweaked it up with some knowledge and it runs great - didn't come installed with much bloatware, either. Keyboard is beautiful, OMG this machine is SO NICE. Perfect size, everything is a dream come true. Sits evenly, also.

I'm actually browsing the internet on my kitchen table!!

However, my wireless router is dieing (already disconnected 10 times yesterday, 12 times today), so I'm going to be going and picking up a WRT600N from my work.

    CHEERS!

Oh, it's so beautiful. Got everything set up, I may keep it as it is without reformatting it. Just need to customize it a bit, and we're good to go!

Bought a Linksys WRT600N, but the 5ghz isn't performing how I'd like it to... hmm.

I just peformed a factory reset on my dell m1530 (Dell asked me to) in an attempt to solve my "lines & interference on external display issue" it dient solve it it still has a layer of interference and line ext. but the one good thing.

Ive had my computer compleatly take apart 2 time 1st time to replace mobo 2nd time to fix damage to pam rest that the mobo replacement techs caused.

boot time at factory reset: 52sec
    after tweaks ext: 32sec

improved my boot time by 20sec yay!!!

    Current Parts Replaced:
    Motherboard
    Palm rest and keyboard underlay
thay even sent me a new 22" screen to test (still had lines ext.
