As some of you may know, I've been planning to wait til Feb 2008 before getting the M1330, but a recently released 200€ reduction of the said notebook did nothing but tempt me to get it earlier (since the reduction lasts only til Jan 8, 2008)

I compared prices between the Dell France and Singapore and found that with the same specs and with Dell France's reduction, Dell France offered the notebook for 100€ cheaper.

Should I get it before the deadline, or is there reason to wait a little longer?

Here are the specs that I chose:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 (2,20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 Mo de cache L2)
    Windows Vista® Premium Family Edition
    1 year Premium XPS Support
    Tuxedo black color
    UltraSharp™ WXGA (1280x800) 13,3-in, LED-backlit (300 nits), TrueLife™ screen
    Fingerprint scanner
    2GB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz
250GB SATA Hard Disk (5400 rpm)
    nVidia® GeForce® 8400M GS 128 MB
    8x DVD+/-RW Drive
    6-cell lithium-ion battery (56 W)
Module Bluetooth interne Dell™ TrueMobile 355
    Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini card

Price w/ tax and reduction (free delivery): 1229€

The problem is, when you convert this to dollars, it's around 1760$. If I were to buy it in the US with exactly the same specs as those above except for the ram (3GB), i'd be paying only around 1400$. That is sooo cheap! But the catch is, I don't think international warranty is already included in that price.

This is too much to think about :(

Any comments, suggestions or violent reactions are welcome!

Of course it will eventually be even cheaper - but by then, you'll have a hard time coming to terms buying a 65nm-based model when, by that time, Dell will be rolling out a M1335 or whatever with Intel's 45nm Penryn's processors.

Until then (June '08, maybe...?) the price won't fall all that much more, imho, so buy it when you need it / can afford it and not before... :)

P.S. Makes me wonder if Carla Bruni got to Dell's French rep before hooking up with Sarkozy... lol

Wow, news does get around quick in Europe, haha! Dunno what she has to do with Dell though :D

You saying M1335 just made me crave for it (even if it's currently a fictive laptop). I guess you're right. I'll wait til June. I'm kinda hoping that some relatives from the US will visit me by then. I'll take advantage and have me bring me my first laptop :)

    Merry Christmas!
