I would like to maybe make this a sticky thread to see what games run on the Studios and Inspirons. This indeed can help out a person that wants to buy these laptops.

    1. Please state your graphic card, processor, etc.
    2. Please tell us what dell model you got. (example I got the studio 1537)
    3. Please list the game/s you used on the system and then tell us the details and how many fps you get.

I start with my Dell Studio 1537.

    1. 256mb ati radeon hd 3450 mobility. 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo t5800 processor. 15.4 wled screen 1280x800. 3 gb's of 800mhz ram.
    2. Dell studio 1537, windows vista
    3. Grand theft auto San Andreas- High medium settings around 40-50 fps. NEVER LAGS. Left 4 dead- medium settings with 1280-800 resolution, around 20-30 fps. Its pretty smooth. Test drive Unlimited- 1280x800 with medium low settings around 20 fps. Playable and pretty smooth.

I will keep this updated with more games I play.

I tend to be very sensitive to any framerate drops, and I usually set my ingame settings lower than average to keep framerate as high as possible.

    1. Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66Ghz; 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon 4570
    2. Dell Studio 1555
    3.

    Civilization 4
    1600x900
    AAx4
    Settings: Max
Runs great, but its really hard to see if there are any framerate drops.
I just put this here because I like the game alot.

    Crysis
    1280x720 Low or Low-Medium
    On Low, 30FPS solid.
Gameplay framerate will tend to drop below that if you set it higher for the more intense levels.

    Fallout 3
    1280x720
    Settings: High
    AAx2
Runs about 30FPS. There are alot of settings one can mess around with in this game to get the desired result. Game looks fine on medium settings.

    Half Life 2 Episode 2
    1600x900
    Settings: High
    MSAA: OFF
    Motion Blur: OFF
60FPS inside / 30FPS for outside, intense battles.

    Prototype
    1280x720
    VSync On
    Graphic Quality: High
    Shadow Quality: High
20 - 40 FPS depending on the situation
(Game gets EXTREMELY insane if you let it)
The game has very little difference between Low and High graphical quality.

    Sins of a Solar Empire
    1600x900
    AAx4
    Settings: Highest
Framerate is dependent on amount of units onscreen.
Large maps can contain hundreds of planets with thousands of
units and multiple players. For medium scale maps (ones you
can finish in a sitting), framerate is around 30FPS for end game
battles. Processor has a noticeable effect on framerate more
so than any other game I have played.

    Unreal Tournament 3

    1280x720
    Settings: Max
    Certain Effects: Off
(Usually stuff like minor tree effects or some shadow effects)
    30FPS Solid

    2. Studio 1537. Windows XP SP3.
    3. Team Fortress 2 - Medium settings at 1280x800 runs at 30+ FRAPS always.

Studio 1535 with T9500 processor (2.6GHz), 4GB RAM, ATi Mobility Radeon 3450 graphics, WXGA 1280x800 display, running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 2.

    • Half-Life 2 - Plays perfectly at 1280x800 with all options except AA and AF enabled or set to high.
    • Counter-Strike: Source - Same as HL2; plays beautifully on higher settings with no noticeable lag.
    • Team Fortress 2 - lags slightly at 1280x800 with all settings on "low" or "off", especially in larger battles or underwater. Much more playable at 800x600, at the obvious expense of image quality.
    • Left 4 Dead - much the same as TF2. Just a bit too slow for my liking at the native 1280x800, and generally playable at 800x600.
    • Call of Duty 4: - Disappointingly poor performance. Can only be played at 640x480 with all settings at minimum. It looks terrible at this resolution and settings, but is at least playable.
    • Call of Duty: World at War - Seems to be completely unplayable even at 640x480 and all minimum settings. Still lags horribly in places with lots of foliage or water (e.g. Makin).
    • Unreal Tournament 2004 - Plays perfectly at 1280x800 with all settings enabled.
    • Unreal Tournament 3 - Must be run in 800x600 for playable frame rates.
    • Halo 2 for Vista - works surprisingly well at native 1280x800. Some occasional lag, but remains playable throughout.
It's definitely more than enough for older games, like Counter-Strike and UT2k4. It starts to show its weakness in newer games like TF2 and L4D, and struggles to keep up with CoD4, and doesn't seem to be able to handle CoD:WaW.

Devil May Cry 4 got around 30 to 40 fps on the game without it dropping below 30fps. Not sure how it will fair with larger enemies or some of the other levels which have more details. I was runninf fraps as well which usually cuts the frame rate a bit. Some screen shots at the bottom.

    1280 x 720
    60hz
    Textures high
    Vsync on
    Shadow Quality High
    Quality High
