I've noticed that she says "testing" in a lighter, breezier, more upbeat tone than she says "build." I hated her earlier today. Now I think she's pretty sweet.

On the other hand, it'll probaly ship DHL, so all bets are off.

My relavent specs: Midnight Blue, T8300, 4 GB, WSXGA+ 1650x1080, 250 GB 5400 drive, Intel N Card, Bluetooth, 8600 GT, 6 Cell Battery.

Anything of yours not match up?

Nope. Everything except the color.

 

Wouldn't think Black would cause a hold up. It might just be that when they get a new supply of something (in this case, batteries?) that they release a whole crapload of orders for actual assembly and mine just happened to make it through the line first. I'll bet your status gets updated today as well.

Mine's been "testing" for a couple of hours now. They say it doesn't last very long. I'm hoping to hear "Boxing" yet today. Of course, then I get to wait out three (or more) days of that. Better than Build though.

 

My boxing stage took two days Friday and Sat with some of Sunday. So.. it shouldn't be long.

 

It'd be great if it arrived on Friday. The wife is going to be out of town this weekend. Perfect time for getting a new toy.

If it doesn't come, I guess it'll just be the old fall back of hookers and beer.

 

I think you might get yours by Friday. Hopefully, I will have my machine status updated to at least testing today. I hope.

I decided to stick with my M1530 rather than a 630, I called this morning to find out I am finally out of Pre Production! They kept my original date of 6/5 even though I was stuck in pre production for 4 days, keeping fingers crossed. Congrats Fountain!

 

mines better be in testing by tomorrow because its the 5th day and usually in production it takes 4 from what im aware of... =S

Mine spent 14 days in production, specifically Build. It can sit there quite awhile depending on the availibility of parts. I doubt that your Inspiron takes that long though. Those seem to move through fairly quickly these days. Probably move any time now.

That sucks. I can't imagine how mine slipped through before yours. I'd have to imagine that yours is right behind. Besides, mine will just sit there longer on a pallet in Malaysia waiting for a full plane load. We'll end up being on the same ride out I'll bet.

 

I thought the exact same thing as you when my order finished build stage in 13 days. Congrats on getting to the Boxing Stage! Things are finally looking up here. I've already ordered my RAM as of Saturday, so if everything goes smoothly and delivery dates are unchanged, nothing happens on Tuesday, I get my RAM on Wednesday, and I get the showstopper notebook Thursday. Quite a line up.

Finally everyone has something to be happy about, except for a select few.

With the free next shipping I wrangled out of them maybe I will have it by Friday.

its hilarious, ive been following the fountain adventure ever since i ordered my laptop, i think its downright amazing he has made any progress lol.

 

Well, to be honest my adventure really wasn't that long. Only two weeks. It only seems like a long time because I complained so often. There are at least two guys on here that have been waiting since late April. Now THAT'S long.

Hope they check in with good news of their own.

LOL. Did you see the chat transcript where idq000 actually asked the Dell Rep what he thought about the M50sv-a1 as an alternative if they couldn't ship his laptop? The rep just said he should wait on the Dell.

 

Does anyone know how long the "build" stage lasts?? I just called for the first time today and I got Build Stage as my response. I ordered an XPS 1530 on May 16th, ESD June 3rd.

Does anyone know how to find out what parts are currently delaying my laptop. My friend ordered an Inspiron 1525 on May 12 and she received it on
May 21st!! I am so anxious to get my new laptop!

How long? I am in my second week of waiting, and my ESD is tomorrow. I am still stuck in build, so please be patient and stay. Have fun, rant and rave on this forum. We're all here for you!

 

One of those guys would be me. Ordered on 4/26 and have an estimated shipping date of 5/27. But I'm not complaining too much because I got in on that 40% off deal

 

for me i just dont know how much longer my current laptop is gonna hold out, i have a desktop but that is so inconvienent in comparison lol, my current laptop a asus z71v, has a broken hinge, and the dc jack in the rear is loose which in turn when it does take a charge creates alot of heat from the added resistance, already melted to ac adpaters but 1 still works lol, so im gonna keep rockin it till it dont rock no more, i just dont leave it plugged in unless im using it in case it were to spark flames or something of that matter hahaha.

 

Aren't you a bright ray of sunshine. Although it is unfortunately true. I'm curious as to what my EST #2 is going to be.

 

My specs were nearly identical to yours (except for the Flamingo Pink ) and I spent 14 days in Build. It's impossible to say how long it'll be. It all depends on the availibility of parts, and I'm sure that changes by the hour. (There was something in one of the FAQ's that said that Dell actually orders parts every two hours based on current orders.) Some people who ordered the same day as me (May 12) are already using their M1530's. And some who ordered before me are still waiting. You just can't tell.

For what it's worth, it looks like Dell will only miss my ESD by a day, or maybe two. You'll probably have a similar experience.

 

I have a theory. Maybe they have a limited number of parts and they are using a lottery program to pull out random laptops to put the parts in. It's the only fair way of putting these limited parts in the laptop. Looks like my number wasn't called.

 

Dell missed my ESD by over two weeks. I ordered on May 13th and the estimate was June 12th ship date. It shipped out on May 25th.

 

I think it depends on how much you call Dell and how much you complain to them.

 

I only called them up a single time to talk to CSRs, about only 3 times to check order status on their automated order status checker. I guess the less you call the faster they process? XD
