Well, as I have said before, I was gonna get my wife a 700m for Christmas. On the military website, it was $850 with a free DVD burner. We decided to hold out, hoping Dell would FINALLY release the 710m, because she likes it more. Well guess what?? I go on the site today, and last night they have taken off the free DVD burner deal, and made the computer $999!! That's the same crappy price that's on their regular site!!

So Dell has the 710m, yet chooses to not sell it here in America, then jacks up their prices on aafes. Nice. I won't be purchasing a computer for Christmas, and even if I would, it sure wouldn't be from Dell. I am getting quite sick of them lately

dell changes prices and pricing strategies all the time. you can't really fault them because you wanted to hold out and they changed the offer during that time.

THERE ARE notebook coupons right now... so just be patient.. might not be this week, just be patient, and when you see a good deal. Jump on it, dont be a slouch

One thing i've learned when watching Dell notebook prices, you have to be PATIENT. I have also been waiting on a good deal for the 700m (a little more important for me as I am a student on a budget and in Canada, we don't have any great Dell discount 'coupons'). Then I also heard about the 710m and had waited for it's release. It is now out, so I will be waiting for a reasonable deal on that machine (hopefully).

Hmmm, when did I really start my notebook search and decision to want to buy one.... July I believe it was. Almost 5 months now i've been holding out :|

I've felt like how you are, trust me.

yeah, sometimes you can afford to be patient and wait for a good price -- and that's best. But sometimes when you just need something now you have to settle for whatever the best deal is that you can get, so if you need a notebook for Christmas and Dell doesn't have the deal you want you could post in our "Hardware" forum and people would be happy to recommend an alternative.
