The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Well my Inspiron 1520 arrived yesterday safe and sound.

I just wanted to throw out a big thank you to everyone on this forum/website for helping me (directly or indirectly) become an informed consumer and finally buying my first laptop after many months of lurking/reading, and finally participating in these forums. This website, and these forums are a treasure trove of info and support for people like myself, so once again, thanks everyone.

Quick note on the screen. Yes it's a bit grainy, but seriously not much grainier than any other laptop I've used, or any LCD I've used for that matter. If you are an artist who needs perfection, I can see how this might bother you, but if you are a person like myself (gamer, audio editor, business user) it's not a big deal at all. I'm quite happy with my machine.
I have yet to use my headphone jack for anything as I use external audio devices for my work (and I'll likely pick up the X-Fi card for games since it boosts performance), so I don't know how it sounds. No high pitched freqs in the speakers as of yet... fingers crossed anyhow.
