    Yeah, I got delayed to 8/28 then I re-ordered and got 8/30. I'm leaving for college on 8/25. I hope it ships early, but if not I'm only less than 2 hours away from home. I'll stick it out.

    We're also in the "shipping date 8/28; leaving for college 8/25 club". I've spoken to Dell at least 8 times, including a "Dell Customer Advocate" in response to an email I sent ([email protected] ahead, flood the inbox!), each one said "Oh, we'll expedite this and send YOU an email" but to date, no emails. Each one offers me "fee upgrade to overnight shipping" but that was already offered in the first phone call. I can't stand it that these CSRs have no empowerment to do anything except upgrade to free shipping.

    Oh yeah, that Customer Advocate? I asked for his name, phone number and extension. The extension number he gave me was bogus!

    I'm hear to join the club....I got screwed over with the 8/28 date too....and you know what sucks? People with same specs who ordered a few days before me are getting their laptops right now....and in a few days I go off to college, meaning that whether I get my laptop before I go to college is all up in the air...and it's total luck....yikes...

    That's not as bad as someone with the exact same specs, except I have one additional hard drive, who ordered a week and a half after me getting their computer already and they live in the same region...Dell is messing up big time...

    I have and ESD of 8/28/07. Can I join the club? At least we're all not alone.

    I do have to say that Dell is messing with me. They always want to "expedite" my order, but when I ask them what "expedite" means they don't answer. Dang it.... LOL.... Now I need to go out and buy a dictionary. This is really costing me!

    Seriously, I never anticipated this long of a dealywhen ordering. I ordered on 7/17 figuring I'd have it in plenty of time for an upcoming trip on 8/21. Oh well .....

    Last night I chatted online with a Dell CSR. He finally admitted it was the holdup is with LED screen we ordered--anybody else order the anti-glare LED? He said and I also read somewhere that it's an "industry-wide problem." I'm willing to wait for the anti-glare LED because my daughter has vision problems and needs that type of screen.

    I also came down hard on the fact they're still promoting their "back to school" deals but aren't mentioning the fact that they can't deliver. He couldn't argue with that!

    Supposedly a supervisor is going to call me today. I'm not holding my breath! :(

    I'm in the same boat - I really wish this club was more exclusive. ;) I'd consider trying to re-order with a new color or something, but when I spec'd a similar system on the Dell website, it was $200 more. Also, the estimated ship date for the new order was 09/19 - at least we're not at the end of the line....

    Did an online chat this morning. Asked the fellow if should cancel, could I get refunded for the 1521 specific notebook accessories I ordered when making the order for the notebook. He said absolutely not since it has been more than 21 days since I was shipped those items. I was rather surprised by this response.

    I called later and the operator supposedly directed my call to the "EPP Customer Care Team." The much nicer person there said I would be completely justified in getting a refund for those accessories as they would be getting returned as a result of the delayed notebook. This seems a more appropriate response.

    Does the subcontractor in India get penalized, billed or something else bad if they give me the kind of response my phone call yielded? Makes me wonder.

    I meant with the Vostro... I'm ordering two laptops right now, seeing which one will win out. If it ties, I'm going for the Inspiron, of course, but I have a LAN party on Sept 1st and I want to have a few days of usage with my laptop.

    If neither makes it on time for the LAN, the Vostro is probably going bye-bye.

    what i love most of all is...... they say they don't charge u until it ships, well like not even a week after i ordered, they took the money out of my account......... before i had it all in there. i was going to be putting the other $850 in the very next day..... as a result i ended up w/ a $140 overdraft fee from them not telling me there were doing that before they put the money back...... but i still had the overdraft fee. soo....... no laptop, delayed order, overdraft fee from them charging me too early before they realized, oops, we haven't shipped it.

    What I find strange is that so many people have an ESD of 8/28 when my 8/5 order has an ESD of 8/27 and of course when I popped onto the online chat earlier this week the CSR claimed there were no part delays. Even more interesting was that even as recently as a day or two ago I could configure a 1420 as close to the as mine except for the RAM and the ESD was 8/28.

    I am a part of the 8/28 estimated shipping date too. I ordered on 7/29 and it has been bumped twice and the latest is 8/28 shipping, estimated arrival at the latest 9/4. I have always purchased from Dell and have never experienced this.

    Yeah. I got that booklet yesterday. With my Ruby Red on it. Its a 1521...and mines a 1520...looks the same. Then I noticed Dell's Slogan....

    "Your's is Here"

    Yeah mine is definaltly there because its not infront of me.

    Oh and once again...I chat to a CSR and he tells me that the ONLY DELAYED part is the RUBY RED LID. But then I asked about the Processor and graphics card...he then proceeds to tell me to call the order change configuration number....lol. How did he know the colored lids were holding it up? And yet, knows nothing else about the other parts? Silly Dell
